Administrative Officer - Police Service
About the position
The Administrative Officer (GS-0341-09) position within the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, supports the VA Police Service at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System. This role involves managing personnel administration, budgeting, procurement, and contracting to ensure efficient operations. The incumbent provides critical administrative support to enhance program effectiveness and organizational productivity.
Responsibilities
- Leads in administering programs concerning equal opportunity, merit promotion, employee/labor-management relations, and position management. ,
- Approves supply orders and manages resources. ,
- Maintains awareness of available resources and makes recommendations regarding needs and distribution. ,
- Gathers and analyzes budget needs and maintains internal controls for fiscal management. ,
- Manages procurement and contracting for the service. ,
- Prepares procurement requests and evaluates proposals for work. ,
- Initiates and prepares contracts. ,
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen. ,
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. ,
- Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-07. ,
- Education may substitute for experience: Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. ,
- Combination of education and experience may also qualify.
