The RoleSTEAMe is seeking a contract Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst / Data Analyst to support high-impact analytical initiatives during a critical phase of growth and product evolution. This is a 4-month contract role with the potential for extension based on business needs and performance.This position is designed for someone who can quickly step into a fast-paced startup environment, work independently, and deliver meaningful insights that drive operational and strategic decisions. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, technically strong, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and capable of translating complex data into actionable business recommendations.In this role, you will partner cross-functionally with leadership, product, operations, and external stakeholders to develop scalable analytics solutions, strengthen reporting capabilities, and surface insights that directly support STEAMe’s mission and customer outcomes.<h2 style="line-height:1.38;margin-left:2px;margin-bottom:5px;">Key Responsibilities</h2>From understanding the business question to exploring data and delivering actionable insights, you will help answer critical questions about platform performance, workforce outcomes, customer engagement, and operational opportunities.Including:<ul><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Translate complex business questions or customer requirements into easy to use and digest Analytics Products and Insights (analyzing, visualizing and storytelling)</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Partnering with key customer accounts to translate analysis into clear, actionable recommendations, actively participating in both internal and client-facing meetings to present findings and drive decisions</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Maintaining relationships with stakeholders at STEAMe and externally, including STEAMe senior leadership, customers, and vendors, to ensure best-in-class service</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Experiment with incorporating AI / LLMs into our Business Intelligence offering</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Proactively identify and develop high-impact “insight nuggets” from workforce and market data (e.g., supply-demand gaps, task-shift opportunities, automation potential), translating them into compelling narratives that demonstrate the value of STEAMe’s analytics capabilities</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Design and showcase innovative use cases within the STEAMe analytics portal, highlighting “what’s possible” through exploratory analyses, rapid prototypes, and data storytelling that drive customer engagement and new business opportunities</li></ul><h2 style="line-height:1.38;margin-left:2px;margin-bottom:5px;">Requirements</h2><ul><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">5+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or business analytics</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Strong expertise with BI and visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate insights from complex datasets</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for technical and non-technical audiences</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Experience translating data insights into clear business impact and recommendations</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills</li></ul>Compensation & Contract Details<ul><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Contract Length: 4 months</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Compensation: $60/hour</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Employment Type: Contract / Temporary Engagement</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Location: Chicago, IL preferred</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Remote Eligibility: This role is eligible for remote work within the United States</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Hybrid Option: Candidates local to Chicago may work in a hybrid environment (approximately 3 remote days and 2 in-office days per week)</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Review Period: Initial 30-day evaluation period with the option for either party to terminate the engagement per contract terms</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Potential Extension: Opportunity for extension based on business needs and performance</li></ul>STEAMe is committed to building a diverse team and fostering an inclusive culture, and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
