Buyer/Purchasing Agent
Responsible for managing all processes related to the purchasing of materials, parts, supplies, and services to support production while meeting delivery requirements and quality specifications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Coordinate and manage all purchasing activity including sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing of products and supplies.
- Facilitate supplier communication to ensure that product requirements and deadlines are met in addition to sourcing new suppliers to meet business requirements.
- Monitor lead-time, pricing, shipping and quality discrepancies and provide problem resolution as needed.
- Optimize production efficiency and throughput by focusing on forecasting, inventory planning, and scheduling to ensure on time deliveries by monitoring material availability, capacity levels and inventory controls.
- Update the MRP system for all acquired information, including pricing, volume breaks and lead times.
- Analyze changes in materials and supplies to find ways to reduce cost and improve quality.
- Effectively and continually communicate order status, delivery updates, and changes to all invested departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience; preferred.
- Previous knowledge of machine shop operations.
- Ability to read and understand customer/internal blueprints.
- Must have working knowledge and proficiencies in MS Office applications.
- Ability to professionally communicate within all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) methodologies and practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Able to pro-actively identify issues, their root cause and countermeasure accordingly.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and decision-making ability.
- Able to work independently and ensure tasks are completed with little supervision.
