Buyer/Purchasing Agent

Responsible for managing all processes related to the purchasing of materials, parts, supplies, and services to support production while meeting delivery requirements and quality specifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate and manage all purchasing activity including sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing of products and supplies.
  • Facilitate supplier communication to ensure that product requirements and deadlines are met in addition to sourcing new suppliers to meet business requirements.
  • Monitor lead-time, pricing, shipping and quality discrepancies and provide problem resolution as needed.
  • Optimize production efficiency and throughput by focusing on forecasting, inventory planning, and scheduling to ensure on time deliveries by monitoring material availability, capacity levels and inventory controls.
  • Update the MRP system for all acquired information, including pricing, volume breaks and lead times.
  • Analyze changes in materials and supplies to find ways to reduce cost and improve quality.
  • Effectively and continually communicate order status, delivery updates, and changes to all invested departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience; preferred.
  • Previous knowledge of machine shop operations.
  • Ability to read and understand customer/internal blueprints.
  • Must have working knowledge and proficiencies in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to professionally communicate within all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) methodologies and practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Able to pro-actively identify issues, their root cause and countermeasure accordingly.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and decision-making ability.
  • Able to work independently and ensure tasks are completed with little supervision.
