Equipment Operator Trainee
About the position
The Equipment Operator Trainee position with the City of Fort Worth is an entry-level role designed for individuals looking to start a career in public works and stormwater operations. This position involves working in various weather conditions and participating in emergency response efforts, including after-hours and on-call duties. Trainees will gain hands-on experience in maintaining stormwater infrastructure, operating equipment, and ensuring project specifications are met while contributing to community safety and improvement.
Responsibilities
- Assure project work quality and efficiency specifications and timelines are met. ,
- Pull and hook up high pressure hoses for cleaning storm drains and pipes. ,
- Inspect and clean storm lines, manholes, and inlets as necessary. ,
- Maintain paperwork and respond to high priority calls. ,
- Provide training and instruction to other personnel who operate equipment related to assigned division. ,
- Perform equipment operations and manual labor duties as they relate to maintenance operations. ,
- Adhere to assigned work schedule as outlined in the department policy and city personnel rules and regulations. ,
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED ,
- Valid driver's license ,
- No experience required.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices ,
- Work zone safety ,
- Confined space entry ,
- Additional construction repair and maintenance experience ,
- Experience with saws, compressor, generator, various hand tools, skid steer, excavator, CCTV inspection, vacuum trucks and tools or equipment related to assigned division. ,
- Basic computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Office ,
- Data entry experience.
