Freelance Fact-Checker

I'm looking to add one more amazing person to my freelance fact-checker pool at Via magazine in 2026. This is a low-commitment and super flexible opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, research savvy, and would enjoy deep dives into topics ranging from travel destinations to car maintenance to navigating the DMV or TSA. It's ideal for an exceptional journalism student or recent graduate but also works well as a side gig for veteran reporters. Previous fact-checking experience is a plus, as is familiarity with the Western U.S. The work is project-based (hours sprinkled over 1-2 weeks for each) and paid hourly. Our fact-checkers take on 1-3 projects per month. If you're interested in applying or learning more, reach out to me at [click apply]
