Registered Nurse (RN) Burn Trauma ICU 4H

About the position

The position involves delivering proficient nursing care to patients and families with varying complexities of needs. The role includes receiving supervision from the Nurse Leader and functional supervision from clinical coaches or other registered nurses. The nurse will be responsible for assessing patient conditions, developing care plans, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Documents patient information integrating nursing assessment data and therapeutic regimens.

  • Coordinates and delivers care to patients with complex nursing needs to ensure safety and quality.

  • Utilizes strategies that support patient care outcomes based on interdisciplinary plans.

  • Participates in the Contemporary Primary Nursing Model as a primary or associate nurse.

  • Supports National Patient Safety Goals and other quality metrics.

  • Provides input to the orientation program for new staff and conducts individual orientations.
  • ,
  • Conducts and evaluates formal unit-based in-service education programs.
  • ,
  • Assumes a resource role for colleagues in unit management and acts as a consultant for nursing staff.

  • Participates in the formulation and evaluation of departmental goals and policies.

  • Assesses patient care needs and delegates tasks to peers and support staff as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • ,
  • Prior clinical nursing experience preferred.
  • ,
  • Registered Nurse (RN) State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia required.
  • ,
  • CPR certification for healthcare providers from AHA or American Red Cross within 90 days required.
  • ,
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department.

Nice-to-haves

  • C-EFM certification for Perinatal nurses within 12 months from date of hire.
