Sr. Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) iOS & Android
About the position
We're looking for a seasoned SDET with strong experience in mobile automation (iOS and Android), performance testing, and release management to join Tinder's QA Engineering team. You will build scalable, reliable test automation frameworks and ensure high-quality releases that reach millions of users worldwide. Responsibilities
- Design and maintain automation frameworks for iOS & Android apps using WebdriverIO + Appium. ,
- Develop API and integration tests using TypeScript, Axios, Mocha, and Chai. ,
- Implement and monitor performance test plans for mobile and backend systems. ,
- Work closely with Release Managers to validate builds, support phased rollouts, and streamline hotfix verification. ,
- Generate actionable insights through Allure and other reporting tools integrated with CI pipelines. ,
- Participate in sprint rituals, advocate for testability, and contribute to product readiness assessments. ,
- Collaborate with QA Analysts, Developers, PMs, and Designers to identify risk areas and ensure end-to-end test coverage. ,
- Monitor post-release quality signals and support RCA for production incidents. ,
- Coordinate cross-team testing alignment during weekly releases and urgent hotfix cycles.
Requirements
- 5+ years in software QA automation, SDET, or equivalent engineering roles. ,
- Strong hands-on experience with WebdriverIO for mobile & web automation. ,
- Experience with Appium for native app testing. ,
- Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, Axios, Mocha, and Chai. ,
- Test reporting via Allure or equivalent. ,
- Experience with performance testing methodologies and tools. ,
- Familiarity with mobile app release management processes for both iOS (App Store Connect/TestFlight) and Android (Play Console). ,
- Strong understanding of mobile release cycles, including App Store/Play Store submission, build versioning and tagging, and canary/phased rollout coordination. ,
- Solid understanding of CI/CD practices and Git-based workflows.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with CI tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Bitrise, or similar. ,
- Exposure to test case management platforms like TestRail or QASE. ,
- Familiarity with GenAI-powered test generation (e.g., TestRigor, mabl). ,
- Interest in contributing to accessibility and localization testing standards. ,
- Experience coordinating with freelance or offshore QA teams.
Benefits
- $160,000 - $200,000 a year salary range. ,
- Geographic salary adjustment if working outside of Los Angeles, CA. ,
