Summer Camp Nurse

The Summer Camp Nurse is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all campers and staff during the camp season. This includes providing first aid, ability to administer medications (most campers are not taking medications during camp hours), incident reporting, responding to emergencies, and promoting general wellness in a fun, active, indoor environment.

Locations: Week of July 7th -- The Woodlands Methodist Church, The Woodlands; Week of July 14th -- Sugar Creek Baptist Church, Sugarland

Schedule: Monday - Friday; Monday -- 8AM - 12:30PM; Tuesday - Friday -- 9:30AM - 12:15PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and camp policy.
  • Provide first aid and medical care for illnesses, injuries, and emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all campers and staff.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding camper health issues when necessary.
  • Monitor campers for signs of illness or injury and manage communicable disease control.
  • Work with camp staff to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the health center/infirmary.
  • Keep daily medical logs and incident reports.
  • Assist with health screenings at check-in and throughout the session.
  • Participate in staff training and emergency drills.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Texas.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Pediatric or school nursing experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in a camp, school, or similar setting is a plus.
  • Must enjoy working with children in an outdoor and active environment.

Work Conditions:

  • Live-in or day-staff options may be available depending on the camp.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during the camp session.
  • Position requires standing, walking, and responding quickly to medical needs across camp grounds.
