UI/Graphic Designer
- Salary: Based on experience.

The Role
We are seeking a UI/Graphic Designer to join our team on a full-time basis. We’re looking for a creative, passionate designer with a strong array of creative and technical skills to help us elevate our media, digital learning products, and websites. This role will work across our Media and Digital Learning and Products departments to design assets for both static media and interactive technology products.
Key Responsibilities
Concept Development for Graphic Design and UI:
- Identify smart, innovative visual concepts for both graphic design and digital products, such as static reports and user-friendly digital experiences.
- Create project-specific moodboards, storyboards, and styleframes to facilitate conceptual alignment with client teams.
Graphic and UI Design & Quality Assurance:
- Design and layout documents, graphics, illustrations, and UI for both print and digital-ready files.
- Perform quality assurance on all graphic design and UI work to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Leverage AI tools in line with Sandbox’s policy, generating, critically reviewing, and refining AI-generated outputs to improve quality and efficiency.
Time Management, Collaboration & Client Relations:
- Support the leadership team in interpreting client and partner objectives for projects.
- Present a range of visual options and articulate Sandbox’s vision and concepts to client teams.
- Collaborate with internal team members and freelancers, including illustrators, graphic designers, developers and UX researchers, to plan, execute and deliver high quality outputs across multiple projects, delivering polished work within set timelines.
- Mentor junior team members, providing guidance and constructive feedback to foster their growth.
- Assess client feedback and propose solutions that align with Sandbox’s and client objectives.
What you bring to the table
Background:
- 3-7 years of experience with UI and graphic design.
- Degree or diploma in UI, web design, graphic design, or similar.
Core competencies:
- Leadership and innovation: Take initiative, contribute solutions, mentor others, and adopt new tools proactively.
- Accountability and integrity: Take ownership over delivery of key project components or entire projects.
- Communication and collaboration: Communicate clearly, anticipate risks, support collaborative problem-solving, and contribute expertise to broader project and client needs.
- Planning and organization: Show strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and efficiently apply revisions.
Creative and Technical Skills and Tools:
- Relevant technical and creative skills in the areas of graphic design, layout, and UI.
- A strong understanding of visual composition, aesthetics, and commercial design standards.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma and other Adobe Creative Cloud software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Proficiency creating wireframes and mockups.
- Proficiency with AI image generation tools (Midjourney, Veo, Sora), including the ability to craft highly detailed and effective prompts and critically review and refine AI-generated outputs to improve quality.
- A strong understanding of web, media and design accessibility responsiveness, including standards and principles from WCAG 2.2 at A, AA and AAA levels and the AODA.
Bonus if you have:
- Strong UX skills, and interest in this area of expertise
- Foundational knowledge of Git and command line tools.
- Understanding and knowledge of HTML, CSS, and/or JavaScript.
- Experience with Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise).
- Experience with Webflow or Wordpress.
- Fluency in French and/or Spanish.
- Familiarity with universal design for learning.
